Serengeti National Park
Serengeti, Tanzania’s largest national park and arguably Africa’s most prestigious game park, is the backdrop for an awe-inspiring wildlife spectacle. Every year, over two million wildebeest and zebras embark on their remarkable circular migration across the expansive plains and acacia woodlands. As far as the eye can see, massive herds of zebras and ungainly wildebeest stretch out, with predators closely trailing behind.
Lions, cheetahs, and hunting dogs are in pursuit, while vultures circle overhead. In the Masai language, Serengeti means “endless plains,” and within its borders reside over three million large mammals. The vast grasslands are dotted with “Kopjes,” rocky outcrops that serve as habitats for various wildlife communities, including leopards and hyraxes, among others.
Additionally, the Serengeti is home to common species such as hippos, giraffes, elands, impalas, antelopes, baboons, monkeys, and an abundance of nearly 500 bird species. A visit to the Serengeti will undoubtedly leave visitors with indelible memories of its immense scale and breathtaking beauty.
